Description
Seashell is a single flower form, Lactiflora peony. The flower opens sell pink with a yellow center. Large, broad petals surround a cluster of pollen bearing, yellow stamens and the pale carpels with pinkish stigmas. The flower has a polished form with good substance and remains one of the best singles available.
The bush has an excellent plant habit, it is vigorous and is of above average increase, growing a large, tall bush within four years of planting. It is a reliable bloomer with a generous amount of color each year. Long stems hold the flower above the canopy of foliage; the bush retains its form even when exposed to inclement weather. Staking is typically not necessary.
Seashell does well in the mixed perennial border, mass planting and the pollinator garden.
Best Use
General garden and landscape use; perennial border; mass plantings; deer resistant.
