Description

Athena is a Single flower form peony with medium size flowers. The petals open in cream color supplemented with a pink blush hue that is perfectly accentuated with prominent rose-red flares emanating from the center. A unique and eye-catching color pattern, striking in the garden and in floral design. Light fragrance. Medium height, erect bush, summer foliage appearance benefited by some shade when grown in our Midwest climate. Good habit, erect, strong stems clad in deep green foliage.

Quadruple hybrid. Parentage: descends from Albiflora, Macrophylla and Officinalis with Mlokosewitschi. Presumed triploid, but has usable fertility. Sets few seeds, pollinate with a tetraploid.

Basic Growing Requirements
Full Sun. Water as needed, sensitive to over-watering and waterlogged conditions. Soil pH 6.5-7. Fertile, well-draining soil.
