Early Canary

$50.00

Early Canary opens in soft light yellow, emerging a rich, golden yellow at first opening — its color especially vivid in cool spring weather. Plants furnish fine stems for cut vases.

Description

Early Canary, is a fragrant, full double flower opens light yellow. The color is more pronounced in cool spring weather and of decidedly golden yellow shade at first opening. Well rounded, broad guard petals surround many layers of segments which grade narrower inward. Generously furnished with petals, the large flower is of a desirable form and good substance. The green carpels and if present, the purple red stigmas are well hidden by the petals. Altogether it is an attractive and surprisingly early blooming double flower. The plant habit of the bush is fair, perhaps below average for landscape application. The plant is vigorous and fast to increase.

Early Canary is a dependable bloomer with ample color on a medium height bush. However, the sprawling bush does not hold its form and the long stems sag with the opened flower. The bush is well clothed in medium-green foliage, the leaflets pointed and relatively long in relation to width, remain attractive well into the summer here in NW Missouri. It furnishes fine stems for the vase, and it is a good choice for the cut flower garden. This variety boasts qualities of interest to the cut flower trade since it increases well, has a good stem count as well as a unique color and a quite early bloom season.
