Description
Major Steve is a single flower form hybrid peony. The large flower opens pastel salmon pink. It is a very clear bright color which holds well as the bloom matures. Two rows of large petals surround a center of yellow stamens. This peony has a polished look, and the color draws one’s eye from afar.
The plant habit is very satisfying, vigorous and good increase, dependable bloomer with plenty of color on a medium height bush. The strong stems hold the flower close to the foliage canopy and the bush holds its form well even under adverse weather conditions. Staking is not needed. Major Steve offers a numerous favorable attribute, worthy of a spot in the perennial border and a pollinator garden. This variety is a cross of ‘Red Charm’ and ‘Sunny Boy’ making it particularly interesting to peony hybridizers.
