Description
Candy Stripe’s full double, large flowers open white with dark red streaks. The red pigment is more pronounced in cool spring climate. The large outer petals enclose many layers of narrower segments toward the center, forming a showy bloom. The mildly fragrant flower is of good form and substance.
The bush has a satisfying plant habit, it is vigorous and a dependable bloomer, but slow to increase here in NW Missouri. It produces an ample amount of color on a medium height bush. The flower is carried well above the canopy of the dark green foliage and stems spread with the heavy bloom. This variety requires mechanical support in the viewed landscape. The unusual color provides for an exceptional show in the cut flower garden and unique stems for the vase.
Best Use
Unique color; fragrant variety; general garden and landscape use; perennial border; cut flower garden; deer resistant.
Basic Growing Requirements
Full Sun. Water as needed, sensitive to over-watering and waterlogged conditions. Soil pH 6.5-7. Fertile, well-draining soil.
