Description
‘Big Moon’, an herbaceous hybrid, features a large flower with one bloom per stem. The inflorescence has a diameter of eight inches at maturity and is generously furnished with petals that are colored light yellow. The petals hide some remnant pollen bearing stamens on pale green filaments. Two to three hairy carpels are pale yellow green, the stigma deep red. The staminal disk is obscure. The plant has a good plant habit, vigorous and of fair increase forming a good size clump in four years after planting. It is a good bloomer with ample color on a medium height bush. The strong, self-supporting stems are well clothed with deep green foliage, the leaflets are relatively large. Purple color permeates the emerging stems which persist until replaced by the rich green of the mature shoots. However, the summer plant condition benefits by being placed at sites which have good air circulation, being subject to leaf fungi in sheltered sites especially when high humidity prevails.

Novel variety; general garden and landscape use; perennial border; cut flower garden; mass plantings; deer resistant.
Basic Growing Requirements
Full Sun. Water as needed, sensitive to overwatering and waterlogged conditions. Soil pH 6.5-7. Fertile, well-draining soil.
