Best Cut® Pink Baroness Schroeder
Originator: (Unknown)
Group: Lactiflora
Bloom period: Very Late
Bloom week: 7
Flower form: Double
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 2 to 8
Item number: 5521

Details:

Double, large size flower opens shell pink to cool medium pink shades, fading to blush nearly white when mature. The pink pigments are deeper toward the center of the flower while the petal margins are blush pink. The color is more durable and pronounced in cool spring climate. Broad outer petals are incurved, slightly wavy and of good texture, the segments grading narrower inward. While well finished with petals, the flower is of low silhouette, flat in form and of good substance. The bush has a very satisfactory plant habit, it is vigorous, of a good increase, and is a dependable bloomer. This variety does well in northern states due to its very late bloom date and is not expected to perform well in the south. It produces ample color on a spreading, medium height bush within a few years of planting. The flowers are borne above the foliage, each stem with one to three side buds. The leaves are deep green and remain healthy throughout the growing season. Strong stems lean with the open flower, especially if subjected to rain. Support is suggested for the best results in the viewed landscape. This variety furnishes fine stems for the vase. Adaptive to many uses, it is a great choice for the cut flower garden and an attractive specimen plant for the sunny border. Good cutter for commercial use.

This variety is being marketed under its field name. The name came into commerce through inconsistent record keeping by a grower before 1930. Due to the very good cut flower qualities of this variety, this name should be formally adopted.
