Best Cut® 'Patricia Jean'
Originator: (Stanek, 2020)
Group: Herbaceous Hybrid
Bloom period: Early Midseason
Bloom week: 3
Flower form: Double
Height: Tall
USDA Zone: 3 to 7
Item number: 5503

The fragrant, full double flower opens yellow-caramel shades. Warm, yellow pigments dominate toward the center while outer petals exhibit a distinct, pink cast on top of the yellow base color. The large flower displays a rich, complex range of shades. The pigments remain bright as the flower matures, especially if opened in a vase. Broad, rounded guards surround many layers of ruffled inner segments, imparting a downy quality. If present, in the middle of the flower, are fertile pale green carpels that are covered with white trichomes and are tipped with pink stigmas. Some pollen-bearing stamen, loosely clustered toward the center are well concealed within the flower. Generously furnished with petals, the heavy flower has a high silhouette, globular bloom and is of nicely tailored form. One bud and an occasional side bud are born on long stems. The bush has a satisfying plant habit and is vigorous, forming a large clump after a few years of planting. It is a dependable bloomer with ample color on a substantial, tall bush. The glossy, deep green foliage remains healthy for most of the growing season. Strong, long stems arch with rain in the opened flower and benefits from appropriate support. This variety makes a magnificent display in the cut flower garden and provides excellent stems for the vase. Cut stems demonstrate good vase life and hold well in cold storage during which the flower color deepens. This variety is adapted to many uses and offers utility for commercial applications.
