Single; large, flower opens intensely ruby red to violet. Large, nicely shaped petals frame a relatively small cluster of yellow stamen; good substance, attractive contrast of color. Side buds extend the bloom season. Excellent plant habit, vigorous, with prolific bloom on a medium height bush. Expanding shoots are deep purple; heavy leaflets are glossy, dark green at flowering. Self-supporting, thick stems carry the flowers close to the foliage canopy. Outstanding landscape peony, foliage holds green through hot summer weather and well into the fall.
