Best Landscaper® 'Charm'
Originator: (Franklin, 1931)
Group: Lactiflora
Bloom period: Late Midseason
Bloom week: 5 & 6
Flower form: Japanese
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 2 to 8
Item number: 0034

Details:

The Japanese type of flower opens lustrous, dark red, nearly reddish black in cool spring climate. Broad, well-formed outer petals encircle a cluster of narrow staminodes forming a medium size flower. Staminodes are the same color as the petals, the margins edged in gold, hold a set of inconspicuous, pale green carpels in center. A handsome flower, well-tailored, with pleasing shape, good substance, and surprisingly long lasting. This variety has a very satisfying plant habit, vigorous and is of good increase, forming a large clump within a few years of planting. It is a dependable bloomer with a generous amount of color on a spreading, medium height bush. The flowers are borne close enough to the foliage for a well-proportioned presentation. The foliage is semi-glossy, medium green and remains healthy throughout the growing season. Long stems, only slightly arching with the open flower, use light support against inclement weather events if found necessary. This variety furnishes fine stems for the vase. Adaptive to many uses, it is a great choice for the cut flower garden, a great specimen plant for the near border and effective in mass plantings.
