Old Farmstead™ is a selection of historical lactiflora cultivars. These are plants known to have survived for generations in a family or collected at old home sites or having other evidence of excellent durability. We have them from Kansas, Missouri, Ohio and Virginia. All of these will occasionally have useable stigmas and carpels for seeding, no pollen.
Carr East № 2 had been growing at Don Hollingsworth's home since before the memory of people who lived there from about 1920. It is also the seed parent of Don Hollingsworth's first Itoh Hybrid peonies, 'Garden Treasure' and 'Border Charm'.
The name Carr East № 2 is derived from the geographic location where the plants were grown on the "Carr" Family farm which is currently Don Hollingsworth's farm, located just south east of Maryville, Missouri. It grew in the "East" flower bed and was planted in the second position ("№ 2") of such said bed.
