Raspberry Delight

Best Landscaper® 'Raspberry Delight'

Group: Lactiflora
Bloom period: Late Midseason
Bloom week: 5 & 6
Flower form: Bomb
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 2 to 8
Item number: 3054

Bomb double; large, flower opens in rich red-purple, the color of juicy, wild raspberries. Broad, nicely rounded guards form a relatively large saucer that holds at its center a large ball. A well-defined collar of slightly paler petalodes bond the ball to the saucer. It is well furnished with petals, the segments are narrower and slightly cupped. It is a nicely tailored flower with fine substance and provides a bold presence on a luxurious semi-dwarf to medium height plant. Many side buds extend bloom. Excellent plant habit, vigorous and good grower, a prolific bloomer with a generous amount of color on a large bush. Sturdy, erect stem carries flower near the foliage canopy, will arch with rain in the opened flower, need for support depends on planting site exposure. Emerging shoots are deep purple, gradually turning dark green with the prevailing seasonal conditions. Luxurious, deep green foliage, elongated and pointed leaflets with semi-glossy sheen. Seed fertile on the rather rare sound carpels, no stamens. This new variety flaunts a notably harmonious combination of attributes which makes it a fabulous choice for the perennial border.
