Description
Japanese, large flower opens maroon to deep mahogany red in cooler climates. Quite durable pigments, color remains stable until petals drop. Broad, well-formed petals surround a cluster of narrow staminodes of same color edged in gold. In center mostly obscured, pale yellow carpels with red stigmas. A fine looking flower that is of good form and substance. Very satisfying plant habit, vigorous and of fair increase, a dependable bloomer with ample color on a large, medium height bush. Stout, erect stem carries flowers above the foliage canopy. The bush is well covered in semi-glossy, dark green foliage, the leaves remain attractive for most of the growing season. Excellent in the landscape, good choice for the cut flower garden.
