BeeLoved® 'Sugar n' Spice'
Originator: (Rogers, 1988)
Group: Herbaceous Hybrid
Bloom period: Early Midseason
Bloom week: 3
Flower form: Single
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 3 to 7
Item number: 1912

Details:

Single; large size, flower opens bright, creamy pink. Pigments quite durable but will slowly fade in sunlight, petal margins frosted and overlaid with a faint silvery cast when petals drop. Two rows of broad, nicely formed petals surround a large cluster of yellow stamens. The pollen-bearing stamen segments are tightly clustered, in center pale green carpels with conspicuous pink stigma. The gynoecium is of normal form and fertile, will set seeds. The petals are fluted and cupped, the flower is of very good form. Good plant habit, vigorous and good grower, a dependable bloomer with ample color on a compact, semi-dwarf to medium height bush. Thick, erect stem carries flower close to the foliage canopy. The bush keeps its form well against rough weather, staking depends on placement in the landscape. Well covered in luxuriant, medium to deep green foliage. The plant seems to be quite resistant to botrytis here in NW Missouri. It has a notably attractive set of qualities which makes it an excellent choice for the perennial border, offers great hybridizing potential and attracts scores of honey bees and native pollinators making it a perfect specimen for the living garden.

Awards, Best Use & Distinctions
