Best Landscaper® 'Raspberry Delight'
Origin.: (Hollingsworth, 2022)
Group: Lactiflora
Bloom period: Late Midseason
Bloom week: 5 & 6
Flower form: Bomb
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 2 to 8
Item number: 3054

Details:

The bomb double flower opens in rich red purple, a color suggestive of ripe raspberries. The pigment is brilliant and clean throughout, eventually paling lighter in the sun. The color is more pronounced and longer lasting in cool spring weather. The ball center rises above the saucer of the broad guard petals. A noticeable collar of slightly paler petalodes bonds the ball to the saucer. The bloom is well furnished with petals, making a substantial, nicely shaped flower. One large flower and several side buds are born on a straight stem. This Lactiflora group peony has an above average plant habit. It is vigorous and increases well, forming a large clump within a few years of planting. It is a dependable bloomer with ample color on a substantial, medium height bush. Stiff, erect stems bare the flower near the foliage but arch with rain in the opened flower. The bush keeps its form quite well but benefits from light support. Emerging, young shoots are deep purple, the color gradually turning green with the prevailing seasonal temperature change. The mature stem is well covered in deep green foliage. The leaflets are of (bot. lat. oblongus) oblong shape and pointed. The leaves are of good quality and last for the entire growing season. The stems are just long enough for cutting, furnishing attractive stems for the vase. This late midseason flowering variety boasts a notably combination of favorable attributes, making it an excellent choice for the cut flower garden and deserving of a front row spot in the sunny border.
