P. offici. Rubra Plena
Bomb double; large, opens bright red. Large, well-formed guard petals, inner segments same color, narrower and slightly fringed, in center prominent carpels; filaments and stamens are absent. Attractive, nicely tailored flower which is of good form and substance, one bud per stem. It is a reliable variety, except stems bend and twist, forming an “officinalis hook”. This takes away from the otherwise superb qualities of this peony. The foliage is healthy and of medium green color. The bush holds up well and support depends on placement in the landscape.
