The single flower opens bright rose red. Two rows of petals surround a yellow center forming a small, whimsical flower. The pigment soon fades in the sun to light rose shades when petals drop. It is a quaint, early season flower that tolerates late spring freezing events. Flower and plant size are harmonious and well-proportioned. The compact, dwarf bush exhibits a satisfying plant habit. It is vigorous but slow to increase, eventually growing into a mounded bush over time. This variety is a dependable bloomer that bares flowers near to the deeply cut foliage. The shape of the leaves is reminiscent of the fern leaf peony ancestry but not as feathery. The bush holds its shape well against inclement weather events but tends to go dormant quite early in the dry and hot summer here in NW Missouri. It is an adorable little peony that graces the near border or rock garden with an early dash of color.

Basic Growing Requirements
Full Sun. Water as needed, sensitive to overwatering and waterlog conditions. Soil pH 6.5-7. Fertile, well-draining soil.
