Best Fragrant® 'Heather'
Origin.: (Hollingsworth, 2017)
Group: Herbaceous Hybrid
Bloom period: Early
Bloom week: 2 & 3
Flower form: Double
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 3 to 7
Item number: 2866

Details:

Full double on mature plants, the large flower opens in shades of apricot. The pigments are darker at opening and in the depths of the flower, the color paling when exposed to sunlight. Guard petals are rounded and cupped surrounding inner petals which encircle a narrow collar of stamens, which in turn surrounds the outer petals of the inner flower, leading to wanted fullness in the mature flower. This variety boasts an excellent plant habit, it is vigorous and of good increase. The plant quickly matures into a large clump, making an admirable display when in flower. It is a dependable bloomer with ample color on a substantial bush. One flower per stem presented near the foliage gives the bush a neat and trim appearance. The stem is generally erect, but may spread with an open flower, especially if subjected to rain. Light support is suggested if to be flowered in the landscape. The bush is well-clad in attractive deep green foliage, the leaflets hold up better than the average of herbaceous hybrids in later summer, showing moderate resistance to leaf spot fungi and has been found quite resistant to mildew here in NW Missouri. The plant yields fine, fragrant stems for the vase and adds a unique color to the cut flower garden and the perennial border.
