Single; medium, flower opens pale yellow. Large, overlapping petals surround a boss of golden yellow stamens, excellent substance. In center are prominent pale green carpels with pale pink stigmas; the flower is mildly fragrant. Well grown plants are of near medium height, more often semi-dwarf. Below average habit, slow to increase, sometimes sparse bush. Rarely offered in recent times. This peony is valued for its earliness of flowering, while being generally resistant to flower bud injury from late spring cold events. Offers good hybridizing potential and is an adorable peony in the perennial border.
