Japanese form, large flower with beautiful deep burgundy red guards. Two layers of broad petals surround a center cluster of petalodes, each segment edged by a touch of gold. A pleasing, well-tailored flower that is of good substance. No pollen, slight fragrance. A reliable and productive bloomer with a satisfying plant habit that is vigorous and of good increase. Stems are tall but self-supporting, typically do not require staking. Numerous side buds prolong bloom. Tall stems show a bronze-red cast which is more pronounced in a cool spring climate. The color is nicely contrasted by the deep green foliage. This peony furnishes fine stems for the vase and bestows beauty in both the cut flower garden and sunny border.

Basic Growing Requirements
Full Sun. Water as needed, sensitive to overwatering and waterlog conditions. Soil pH 6.5-7. Fertile, well-draining soil.
