'Pink Giant'
Originator: (Vurens, 1966)
Group: Lactiflora
Bloom period: Very Late
Bloom week: 7
Flower form: Double
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 2 to 8
Item number: 2629

Details:

Full double, large size flower opens medium pink, fading to blush pink in sunlight. Broad, rounded petals slightly furled, wavy and cupped, make it an attractive, well-tailored flower. The bloom is of high silhouette, globular shape and of notably heavy substance. Remarkably large flower bud, medium green and devoid of any markings provides an early, pre-flowering appeal of the plant. Many side buds per stem extend the bloom season. Very satisfying plant habit, vigorous and strong grower, reliable bloomer with prolific color on a compact, medium height bush. Stems will arch under the weight of the flower, requires support in the viewed landscape. This very late season flowering variety needs a long and cool spring for good quality flowers to open. It is not expected to perform well in locations south of NW Missouri. If grown in appropriate conditions it is an adorable variety worthy of a prominent spot in a perennial border. This peony is rarely offered.

Awards, Best Use & Distinctions
