'Lois' Choice'
Originator: (Laning, 1993)
Group: Herbaceous Hybrid
Bloom period: Early Midseason
Bloom week: 3
Flower form: Double
Height: Semi-dwarf
USDA Zone: 3 to 5
Item number: 2911

Details:

The full double flower opens in a unique range of green, cream, yellow, and pink shades. The expression of each color is random, but the darker shades prevail in a cool spring. Broad outer petals surround layers of segments that are folded and looped in an intricate pattern. The elegant, medium size flower is of a high build, dome shape. Flower and plant size are harmonious and well-proportioned. The bush has a fair plant habit, it is vigorous and of average increase, growing a compact, semi-dwarf bush within a few years of planting. The developing buds are susceptible to late frost damage. The opened flower should be protected from intense sunlight to prevent sun damage. The stout stems are self-supporting, and the bush holds its form well against inclement weather events. The bush is well covered with deep green foliage, the leaflets broad, nearly oval remain healthy for most of the summer. This unusual peony is a good choice for the near perennial border.

Awards, Best Use & Distinctions
