Details:

Japanese flower form; large, opens deep dark red, guard petals overlap and are of good substance. Center same shade and color as outer petals when opening. Staminodes silver tipped with age. Good habit, reliable, floriferous, formes a medium to tall bush. A vigorous grower. Stems strong, erect, with numerous side buds extend the flowering season. A fine variety, currently under appreciated and rarely offered. Best Landscaper. 

Species cultivar, P. lactiflora. Parentage: unknown. Thought to be infertile, no pollen or seeds observed. Appears to have useable carpels.
