The award-winning bomb double flower opens brilliant bright red. The flower is very much like a diminutive P. ‘Red Grace’ or P. ‘Red Charm’, the petal color equally deep, but with a slightly softer red shade. Broad, outer petals grade successively smaller toward center. The medium size flower is generously furnished with petals, the segments are tightly arranged, fluted, and twisted. The flower is nicely tailored form and good quality. This variety has a very satisfying plant habit, it is vigorous and of good increase, growing a compact clump within a few years of planting. The dependable bloomer produces ample color on a semi-dwarf bush. The strong, short stem carries the flower near the foliage. A well-proportioned bush holds its form quite well against inclement weather. The leaves are semi glossy, medium green and hold up well through the summer here in NW Missouri. This cultivar is under used, considering it is a good grower and fine performer with many attractive qualities. This peony is an excellent choice for an upfront spot in the sunny border.
