Early Glow (Hollingsworth 1992) Early Hybrid.  Early to Midseason.  A best landscaper.  Single; opens light yellow, most intense in cool climates, the hue passing to ivory, crimson highlights at center, excellent substance.  Occasional side buds extend flowering and breeding options.  Large leaflets are avocado green, stems spreading but strong, bush remains green to latest autumn; very vigorous, excellent in the landscape.  Fertile both ways, presumed tetraploid.  Item 0945.   $18.00  

Early Scout (Auten 1952) Early Hybrid.  Very Early.  A best landscaper.  Single; very dark red.  Short stems densely clothed in distinctively narrow leaflets, typical of the fernleaf hybrids, a vigorous plant sometimes spreading by root sprouts under best growing conditions.  Prolific flowering, tolerates late spring freeze events with the best.  Item 2203.  $16.00 

Early Star (Hollingsworth 1993) Early Hybrid.  Very Early.  A best landscaper.  Single; yellow white passing to milk white; moderately cupped, heart-shaped petals centered by a large stamen boss and red stigmas, forms a six-inch flower.  Light fragrance.  Large leaflets on a medium bush, accenting in the early border.  In flower with Roselette with which it makes an attractive combination.  Fertile, presumed tetraploid.  Item 0676.  $16.00 

Echt Klasse (German, ESCHT KLOSS-e) (Hollingsworth / Reinermann, 2000) Midseason Hybrid.  Early Midseason to Midseason.  Semidouble; many smooth petals of shining, intense scarlet red surround a small center of light yellow stamens and velvety white carpels, filaments red.  Large flowers set close to the bush, medium low, 24-26 inches.  Smooth leaflets, medium green, good grower.  Subject to midsummer die down when subjected to water stress, the subsequent  flowering performance not diminished.  Named by Werner Reinermann, Schoppinger Iris Garden of Germany.  Item 0646.  $30.00 

Edulis Superba (Lemon 1824)  Lactiflora.  Midseason.  Double; globular flower of a lively old rose pink; very fragrant.  Floriferous.  Long grown for commercial cutting on account of its dependability and earliness among the available doubled forms.  Medium tall, stems somewhat spreading.  One of the oldest cultivars in Western nations commerce.  Item 2301.  $18.00 

Eliza Lundy (Krekler 1975) Midseason Hybrid.  Early Midseason to Midseason.  A best landscaper.  Bomb; full petalled, medium size deep red.  Very much like a diminutive ‘Red Grace’ or ‘Red Charm’, petal color softer.  Good grower, fine performer,  Item 2362.  $26.00 

Elizabeth Foster (Saunders 1941) Midseason Hybrid.  Early Midseason. A best landscaper.  Single; brilliant medium pink, strongly cupped petals around contrasting pale stamens, flowers produced easily and in abundance.  Very erect; medium height, excellent grower, many stems, quickly develops a substantial clump, makes a fine presentation in flower. No fertility noted.  Item 0707.  $16.00 

Ellen Cowley (Saunders 1940) Midseason Hybrid.  Early Midseason.  A best landscaper.  Semidouble; many petals, sharp pink (or light red in a cool spring).  Very prolific, many stems, many flowers; leaflets and flowers medium size, a handy size for floral design.  Medium tall stems, good grower.  Like many Lobata of Perry Hybrids, foliage best with some shade, quality of summer foliage is helped.  No fertility noted.  Item 0051.  $16.00 

Elsa Sass  (Hans P. Sass 1930)  Lactiflora.  Late to Very late.  Full Double; all white (may open blushed in cool climates), large petals throughout, exhibition form, fragrant.  Short medium bush, strong stems may bend with open flowers in unfavorable weather.  Flowers placement is close to the bush, however lends to concealed support for landscape use.  APS Gold Medal 1943.  Item 2204.  $18.00 

Fairy Tale (Auten 1962)  Lactiflora.  Late Midseason to Late.  A best landscaper.  Anemone/Bomb; intense ruby red with the improved clarity of color seen in several of the later Auten reds.  A smaller size flower of exquisite color.  Light fragrance.  An excellent garden subject.  Seed fertile.  Limited supply.  Item 2409.  $20.00 

Firelight (Saunders 1950) Early Hybrid.  Early to Early Midseason.  A best landscaper.  Single; petals a brilliant cool pink, centered by red-purple highlights in the flares, filaments and stigmas—a striking flower.  Light fragrance.  Medium sized bush, good choice for the mixed border and floral design.  Summer foliage appearance benefited by shade and supplemental moisture in the Midwest.  Triploid, a Saunders Quads Hybrid.  No fertility noted.  Item 0587.  $18.00 

Flame (Glasscock 1939) Midseason Hybrid.  Early Midseason to Midseason.  Single; lustrous flame pink to near fluorescent red cupped petals, medium to large flower.  Vigorous, medium height, dark green foliage, dependable in the landscape and cut.  No fertility noted.  Item 0724.  $16.0

Garden Glory (Auten 1956)  Lactiflora.  Late Midseason to Late.  A best landscaper.  Anemone/Bomb, sometimes with larger center petals; most wanted for its clear, bright ruby red hue, one of the best of Auten’s later achievements in this color, no finer red color in any peony which flowers at this late season.  Medium size, abundant flowers.  Medium tall, strong, erect stems clothed in dark green foliage, an excellent plant for the garden.  Seed fertile.  Item 0712.  $20.00 

Garden Lace (Hollingsworth 1992)  Lactiflora.  Midseason.  A best landscaper.  Japanese form; light pastel pink petals surround the tight center of pale yellow, lacy staminodes; heavy substance imparts a creamy quality throughout.  Fragrant.  One of the most rain proof of peonies, a standard of excellence for the landscape.  Spent petals are self cleaning, abundant side buds open new flowers for two weeks or more. Medium height, dark green leaflets; vigorous, prolific.  Seeds.  Item 1853.  $20.00 

Gertrude Allen (Nicholls/Wild & Son 1958)  Lactiflora.  Late Midseason.  A best landscaper.  Anemone; white guard petals surround a center of light yellow petalodes, which pass white in sunlight.  Side-buds extend flowering.  Dark green, shining leaflets on a medium-tall, upright bush.  The bright white against dark green imparts a sense of purity.  Seed fertile.  Limited Supply.  Item 0101.  $16.00 

Golden Wings (Pehrson / Hollingsworth 1994) Early Hybrid.  Early.  A best landscaperSingle; petals of uncommonly heavy substance remain cupped to the end, light beige-yellow, with red highlights at center, a striking display over the top of a stately plant.  Medium-tall, stems stoutly erect, leaflets medium large.  Bush retains its good appearance throughout the summer.  Fertile, presumed tetraploid, a few side-buds extend flowering and breeding options.  Item 1428.  $30.00 

Hargrove Hudson (Wild 1949)  Lactiflora.  Midseason to Late.  Double, an exquisite pink hue, full petalled, large flower, fragrant.  Medium height, strong stems, best with support, nicely shaped bush.  Excellent flowered in the garden or cut.  No seeds or pollen.  Item 0068.  $24.00 

Henry Bockstoce (Bockstoce 1955) Midseason Hybrid.  Midseason to Late Midseason.  Double; rich, cardinal red, excellent flowers on heavy stems.  For us it is the latest flowering peony of this hybrid red hue, always attracts the eye of late season visitors who missed the others.  Medium height, good grower, but moderate of increase, a sparse bush in young plants.  In the landscape, the bush may best be screened by other plants the first few years.  Splendid cut.  Item 0581.  $20.00

'In the Mood’ (Hollingsworth 2008) Midseason Hybrid.  Midseason, a Best Landscaper.  Semidouble, many well-cupped brilliant red petals encircle the compact center of yellow stamens.  Low medium height, self supporting stems are well clothed in foliage, the flowers set close to the top of the bush, the plant habit excellent for use in landscape design.  Ancestry similar to that of ‘Cherry Ruffles’, ‘Many Happy Returns’, ‘Command Performance’, ‘Lorelei’, ‘Ring of Fire’ and ‘Echt Klasse’.  Presumed triploid, pollen is sparse and no seeds have been noticed.  Limited supply.  Item 1163.  $30.00
